The ACLU SoCal is pleased that the Board of Supervisors has chosen to let stand the district court’s ruling that Los Angeles County cannot favor one religion over all others practiced by its residents, especially on the principal symbol of the county.Media contact: Tony Marcano, 213.977.5242, tmarcano@aclusocal.org
The ill-conceived and misguided effort to alter the county seal and favor Christianity over all other faiths has cost taxpayers at least $1 million. Today’s action guarantees that the taxpayers will not be forced to suffer further.
It is time for the board to put its time, energy and resources into representing all the people of L.A. County.
