Immigrant Youth Can Not And Must Not Be Used As Political Footballs

Statement from Jennie Pasquarella, Director of Immigrants' Rights for the ACLU affiliates in California:

"It is urgent that Congress pass a clean Dream Act before leaving town for their winter vacation. Congress must not leave town for vacation without dealing with this vital issue and providing immigrant youth, who are already losing their protection from deportation, assurance that they can stay in their homes and communities.

"There is bipartisan support for a clean Dream Act in Congress and it is supported by a majority of Americans. It is now more clear than ever that California representatives Paul Cook (CA-08), Devin Nunes (CA-22), Darrell Issa (CA-49), Mimi Walters (CA-45) and Ed Royce (CA-39) are key votes. We will be working everyday for the next two months to ensure they put politics aside and do the right thing.

"We can not and must not let immigrant youth be used as political footballs. There is a short window to act and the time is now."
