District attorney in Riverside County is one of the most powerful criminal justice positions in Southern California, overseeing a department that files approximately 60,000 cases a year. The D.A. makes critical decisions on charges and prosecutions, and has a staff of about 700 attorneys, investigators, paralegals and other workers. This forum will give the public — in person and online — the chance to hear from and question candidates vying for the position ahead of the June 7primary election.

Two candidates — Lara Gressley and Burke Strunsky — have accepted invitations to appear at the event. The incumbent, Michael Hestrin, has also been invited.

This is a educational non-partisan forum that will also be live-streamed. It is sponsored by the Riverside Justice Table coalition that includes several community and activist groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California (ACLU SoCal), Inland Congregations United for Change (ICUC), and Starting Over Inc.

This forum will help community members understand the kinds of policies and measures each of the candidates plan to implement.

The event is free to the public.
