LOS ANGELES - The American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California filed a lawsuit today on behalf of pregnant and parenting teens who were funneled into sub-standard alternative education programs instead of being given the opportunity to continue their education at their local high schools. The suit names the Antelope Valley Union High School District and the Los Angeles County Office of Education as defendants and alleges violations under state and federal law, including Title IX.

ACLU/SC Goes To Bat For Girls' Softball Players in La Puente

LOS ANGELES - Today, at 11:00 A.M., the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California announced the filing of a class-action lawsuit to end discriminatory treatment of girls' softball players in the City of La Puente. The legal complaint, filed by the ACLU/SC in federal court today, claims that the girls are "being denied equal and adequate access to City-owned resources made available to the local boys' baseball league, on the basis of their gender."
