L.A. Sheriff Community Forum Event - Sept. 15

Candidate Alex Villanueva Will Attend — Incumbent Jim McDonnell Has Pulled Out

LOS ANGELES — As part of the "Elect Your Sheriff" program to give voters the chance to hear and question candidates for Los Angeles County Sheriff, a town hall forum will be held Saturday, September 15. The sheriff position is one of the most powerful in Southern California, overseeing patrol services for 42 cities and 153 unincorporated areas, and the largest jail system in the nation. Candidate Alex Villanueva will appear. Incumbent Jim McDonnell initially accepted the invitation to appear, but has since pulled out. The ACLU SoCal, LARRP, Dignity and Power Now, and other sponsors of the event have written a public letter to McDonnell, asking him to reconsider.
