ACLU SoCal remembers Philip Borden

Philip Summers Borden, a staunch supporter and member of the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California (ACLU SoCal), former professor of business administration, Harvard alumnus and one-time real estate executive died Dec. 26. He was 89.

Should officers be permitted to view body camera footage before writing their reports?

A police officer wearing a body camera shoots a civilian. Afterwards, the officer has to write up a report about the incident. Should the officer be able to view the footage captured by his body camera (or other cameras) before he writes his initial report?

L.A. Supervisors approve oversight of LASD, but will it have power?

Yesterday, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted (3-2) to create a civilian oversight commission to oversee the L.A. County Sheriff's Department. ACLU SoCal and other community organizations sent in letters and made statements in support of civilian oversight.
