In 2003, the Dixie Chicks faced boycotts by country-music stations after they spoke out against the Iraq invasion.

Singer Natalie Maines (pictured) discussed the episode at the ACLU/SC's Bill of Rights Awards in December. "It hasn't taken courage to stand strong, just a first-grade education," she said. "Even in Lubbock, Texas, we learn about freedom of speech."
