The ACLU of Southern California named Mohammad Tajsar as Director of Immigrants' Rights.
Mohammad has been a deeply committed and principled advocate at the ACLU of Southern California for more than a decade, with work focused on national security and counterterrorism policy and their impacts on Arab, Muslim, Middle Eastern, and South Asian communities. He has also brought his sharp litigation and advocacy skills to work on cutting edge advocacy and litigation challenging police misconduct, government surveillance, and threats to the rights of individuals and organizations in the digital world. Most recently, Mohammad has been a key leader in some of the ACLU SoCal’s most consequential work, including helping to develop and litigate Vasquez Perdomo v. Mullin and Blair v. Regents of University of California.
Before joining the ACLU, he was an associate at Hadsell Stormer & Renick LLP, where he worked on civil rights and workers’ rights matters. He began his legal career as a law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada and as a legal fellow at the ACLU SoCal.
